Ingredients

The sausage mixture

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • cup maple syrup

Cooking oil

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, ground turkey, spices, and maple syrup, mixing well with your hands.
  3. Wet your hands and scoop a heaping ¼ cup of the mixture to form a thin patty.
  4. Place the patties on the lined baking sheet and repeat until all mixture is used.
  5. For stovetop cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook patties for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. For oven cooking, place the patties in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  7. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165ºF before serving.
