Ingredients

The burgers

  • 1 lb ground bison meat
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices bacon

The toppings

  • 1 head iceberg lettuce
  • 4 thick slices vine ripe tomatoes
  • 4 slices red onion
  • to taste pickles
  • to taste ketchup
  • to taste mayo
  • to taste mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium high heat, around 375-400°F.
  2. Form the ground bison into four ¼ lb. patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Clean the grill grates and apply cooking spray or rub with an olive oil soaked rag.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook the first side for 4 minutes with the grill closed.
  5. Flip the patties and grill the other side for 3 minutes with the grill closed.
  6. Add a slice of cheese on each patty, close the grill, and let the cheese melt for 1 minute.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a wedge of lettuce on a plate, adding the bison patty, topping with bacon, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments.
