Cheddar Cheese Biscuits with Cilantro

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick unsalted cold butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Blend the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture has pea-sized chunks of butter.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until the ingredients are moist.
  5. Gently fold in the cheese, garlic, and cilantro until evenly mixed.
  6. Scoop the biscuit dough onto a lined baking sheet, using about ⅓ cup for jumbo biscuits or 3 tablespoons for smaller biscuits.
  7. Bake jumbo biscuits for 15-18 minutes and smaller biscuits for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Serve warm.
