Croque Monsieur

Gruyere cheese

unsalted butter
Instructions
- Mix 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise with the Dijon mustard and spread over 4 slices of bread.
- Layer a slice of ham and a slice of Gruyere cheese on each of those slices.
- Top with the remaining 4 slices of bread.
- Brush the outside of the sandwiches with melted butter.
- Preheat an indoor grill or a nonstick grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the sandwiches for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
- Transfer the sandwiches to a broiling tray and preheat the broiler.
- Spread the remaining tablespoon of mayonnaise on top and add the remaining cheese slices.
- Broil for 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Serve hot.
