Homemade Strawberry Syrup

hulled and chopped strawberries

granulated sugar
Instructions
- Chop the strawberries and combine them with water in a small pot, then simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until the water is bright red.
- Strain the juice from the strawberries using a fine mesh strainer and discard the solids.
- Wipe out the pot, return the juice to it, and add the sugar.
- Simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 15 minutes until it thickens and reduces to about ½ to ⅔ cup.
- Let the syrup cool before serving over waffles, pancakes, or ice cream.
