Homemade Strawberry Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hulled and chopped strawberries
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Chop the strawberries and combine them with water in a small pot, then simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until the water is bright red.
  2. Strain the juice from the strawberries using a fine mesh strainer and discard the solids.
  3. Wipe out the pot, return the juice to it, and add the sugar.
  4. Simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 15 minutes until it thickens and reduces to about ½ to ⅔ cup.
  5. Let the syrup cool before serving over waffles, pancakes, or ice cream.
