Ingredients

  • 2 cups hulled and chopped fresh strawberries
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup water
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch slurry)

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped strawberries, sugar, water, lemon juice, and cornstarch slurry in a medium saucepan.
  2. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  3. Keep at a simmer, stirring often until thick and syrupy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and pour over pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
