Instructions
- Combine flour and salt in a heavy-duty mixer.
- Add shortening and mix until it resembles coarse bread crumbs.
- Gradually add hot water and mix until the dough comes together.
- Remove from mixer and divide the dough into portions based on desired tortilla size.
- Shape portions into round balls.
- Preheat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet to medium-low heat.
- Flatten each dough ball and roll to desired thickness.
- Place the raw tortilla on the preheated skillet.
- Cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 30-45 seconds.
- Stack cooked tortillas to keep warm or wrap in foil to serve later.
