Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups unsweetened non-dairy milk
  • 1 ½ oz dark dairy-free chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons roasted almond butter
  • 2-4 pieces soft Medjool dates
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch sea salt
  • coconut whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the non-dairy milk in a medium saucepan until it begins to boil.
  2. In a vented blender, combine the chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, almond butter, dates, vanilla, and sea salt.
  3. Once the milk is hot, pour it into the blender with the other ingredients.
  4. Secure the lid and blend on high until the mixture is creamy and smooth, about 30 seconds.
  5. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with coconut whipped cream if desired.
