Instructions
- Place the popcorn in a large, heat-safe bowl and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 275°F and line two baking sheets with aluminum foil, greased or sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a medium saucepan, combine butter, Karo syrup, and Red Hots, bringing to a boil over medium heat while stirring frequently.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and boil for 5 minutes, then stir in the cinnamon oil and pour the mixture over the popcorn, stirring to coat evenly.
- Spread the popcorn evenly on the baking sheets and bake for 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally, then allow to cool completely.
- In a microwave-safe container, combine chocolate chips and shortening, heating in 30-second increments until smooth.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled popcorn and allow it to harden before breaking into pieces.
