Ingredients

The potatoes

  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes

The cooking liquid

  • ¾ cup water

The creaminess

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

The sweetener

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

The seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon chipotle chili powder

For topping

  • to taste pecans

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into chunks.
  2. Place the potatoes in a steamer basket inside the Instant Pot.
  3. Pour water into the bottom of the pot and set the steamer basket on top.
  4. Set the Instant Pot to Manual on high pressure for 8 minutes.
  5. After cooking, let the steam release naturally for 5 minutes, then do a quick release.
  6. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  7. Add milk, butter, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and chipotle chili powder.
  8. Beat with a hand mixer, immersion blender, or potato masher until creamy.
