Ingredients

Smoked Chicken Dry Rub

  • 2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground pepper
  • teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Other Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. chicken legs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons smoked chicken dry rub

Instructions

  1. Preheat the smoker to 275ºF.
  2. Mix all ingredients for the smoked chicken dry rub in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Remove excess moisture from the chicken legs with a paper towel.
  4. Drizzle the chicken legs with olive oil and massage it into the legs.
  5. Roll each chicken leg in the dry rub until completely covered.
  6. Place the chicken legs onto the smoker and spray with cooking spray.
  7. Smoke the chicken legs for 2-2.5 hours, flipping halfway through and spraying again.
  8. Remove the chicken legs when the internal temperature reaches 170-175ºF.
  9. Let the chicken legs rest for 5 minutes before serving.
