Crispy Lemon Pepper Tofu

Ingredients

The tofu

  • 1 lb extra firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Pepper Seasoning Blend
  • 1 tsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp oil

The lemon pepper sauce

  • 8 ½ tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 ½ tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 tsp Lemon Pepper Seasoning Blend
  • 1 tsp freshly grated lemon zest
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp water
  • 2 tsp soy sauce

To garnish

  • to taste chopped parsley
  • to taste freshly grated lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Press and tear the tofu into bite-sized pieces, then toss with soy sauce.
  2. Add lemon pepper seasoning and cornstarch to the tofu, ensuring it's well coated.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and cook the tofu until crispy, about 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. In a separate pan, combine lemon pepper sauce ingredients and bring to a boil, then simmer for 4 minutes until thickened.
  5. Pour the sauce over the tofu and toss to coat, then garnish with lemon zest and parsley.
