Ingredients

The naan

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • cup warm vegan milk
  • ½ cup Greek vegan yogurt or thick coconut cream
  • tablespoons coconut oil or olive oil
  • optional vegan Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, or cilantro

The pizza toppings

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups vegan mozzarella cheese shreds
  • 3-4 tablespoons additional toppings (e.g., chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, vegan pepperoni)

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients for the naan in a bowl.
  2. Add the wet ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 3 minutes.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 6 balls and roll them into circles.
  6. Cook the naan in a hot skillet until bubbles form, flipping to cook both sides.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  8. Spread pizza sauce on each naan, then add vegan cheese and toppings.
  9. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes until the cheese is melted.
