Cauliflower Parmesan

Ingredients

The cauliflower steaks

  • 1 head Cauliflower (~3 lbs)

The seasoning and toppings

  • 3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Sea salt
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper
  • ½ cup Grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce (no sugar added)
  • ¾ cup Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ¼ cup Fresh basil (cut into ribbons)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C) and move the oven racks to the center and upper third.
  2. Cut the base off the head of cauliflower to create a flat surface and slice it into 1-inch-thick steaks.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the cauliflower steaks on it.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then brush the mixture over both sides of the cauliflower steaks.
  5. Bake the cauliflower on the center rack for 20 minutes, then flip the steaks and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake for an additional 18-20 minutes until the parmesan is golden brown and the cauliflower is tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and switch to broil mode.
  8. Spread marinara sauce on top of the cauliflower and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  9. Broil for 1-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
