Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour to form a paste, cooking until fragrant.
- Add both sugars and water to the paste, bring to a boil, then simmer for 3 to 5 minutes before removing from heat.
- Press one pastry into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Roll out the remaining pastry to overhang by about ½ inch and cut into strips.
- Place sliced apples into the bottom crust, forming a mound. Lay the pastry strips over the apples to create a lattice crust.
- Weave the strips together, folding back as necessary to create the lattice design.
- Pour the sugar-butter mixture over the lattice crust, ensuring it seeps over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking until apples are soft, about 35 to 45 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
