Ingredients

The potatoes

  • 2 lbs Yukon gold potatoes

The cream and butter

  • ½ cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

The seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes.
  2. Cut the potatoes into quarters and place them in a pot.
  3. Fill the pot with cold water, ensuring the potatoes are submerged, and add a half teaspoon of salt.
  4. Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat.
  5. Cook the potatoes for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  6. Drain the potatoes and transfer them to a mixing bowl.
  7. Add the butter and heavy cream to the bowl and mash until smooth.
  8. Mix in the seasonings and adjust to taste.
  9. Serve topped with a pat of butter.
