Homemade Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

The potatoes

  • 1 pound Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into one inch cubes

The seasoning and dairy

  • 1 heaping teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large saucepan.
  2. Cover the potatoes with cold water and add one heaping teaspoon of salt.
  3. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes for about ten minutes until fork tender.
  4. Drain the water and add the butter and a pinch of salt to the potatoes, then mash them.
  5. Stir in the milk and adjust seasoning with more salt or butter if desired.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
