Ingredients

The cake

Crumble Topping

  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

Brown Sugar Glaze

  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13 by 9-inch baking dish.
  2. Cream together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Mix with the wet ingredients, alternating with sour cream and vanilla, then fold in the apples.
  4. For the topping, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly, then sprinkle over the cake batter.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown, then cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Prepare the glaze by mixing brown sugar, vanilla, and water until smooth, then drizzle over the cake before serving.
