Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water.
- In a large bowl, combine milk and hot water, then stir in margarine, shortening, salt, and sugar.
- Once lukewarm, add the yeast mixture and 3 cups of flour, mixing thoroughly.
- Add 2 more cups of flour and mix well, then knead the dough on a floured surface until it is no longer sticky.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Grease two loaf pans, punch down the dough, divide it, and shape into loaves.
- Place in pans, cover, and let rise again until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake the bread for 30 to 35 minutes until browned.
- For the topping, melt butter with honey and brush over the bread, then sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
