Ingredients

The filling

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • cup water

The shells and cheese

  • 12 units taco shells
  • 1 cup finely shredded cheddar or monterey jack cheese

Optional toppings

  • as desired units shredded lettuce
  • as desired units diced tomatoes
  • as desired units pico de gallo or salsa
  • as desired units sour cream
  • as desired units guacamole or diced avocado
  • as desired units pickled onions
  • as desired units chopped cilantro
  • as desired units lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375℉.
  2. Arrange the taco shells in a baking dish and set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and spray with cooking spray.
  4. Brown the ground beef, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
  5. Add taco seasoning, tomato paste, and water to the skillet and stir to combine.
  6. Cook the mixture until hot, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove from heat and spoon the meat mixture into the taco shells.
  8. Sprinkle with cheese and bake until the cheese is melted.
  9. Serve immediately with desired toppings.
