Egg in a Hole

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 slice Bread (preferably Texas Toast)
  • 1 lg Egg
  • to taste Salt & Pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the center out of the slice of bread using a small round cutter, saving the center piece.
  2. Spread butter onto a hot frying pan or electric griddle.
  3. Place the bread and the center piece on the hot buttered surface.
  4. Crack an egg into the hole of the bread.
  5. Season the egg with salt and pepper and cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Flip the bread and the egg, adding more salt and pepper, and cook until the desired egg softness is reached.
  7. Serve immediately, using the cut-out piece of bread to soak up the runny yolk.
