Ingredients

The bread

  • 6 slices sandwich bread

The eggs

  • 6 eggs

The butter

  • 6 tablespoons butter

Seasoning

  • Salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Adjust the oven racks to the highest and lowest positions and preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread with 3 tablespoons of melted butter.
  3. Use a round cutter to cut a hole in the center of each slice of bread and remove the circle.
  4. Melt the remaining butter in a preheated baking sheet and arrange the bread slices butter-side up.
  5. Bake the bread for about 1 ½ minutes until lightly toasted, flipping and rotating halfway through.
  6. Place the bread in a second baking sheet, crack an egg into each hole, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Return the stacked baking sheets to the oven and bake for 6 to 7 minutes until the egg whites are set.
  8. Allow to cool for 3 minutes before serving.
