Ingredients

The meatballs

  • ½ pound ground beef (80/20)
  • ½ pound ground pork
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese (finely grated)
  • ½ cup keto bread crumbs
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

The marinara sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 pound tomato sauce (passata)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasonings
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all the meatball ingredients together and shape into small balls.
  2. Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat and cook the meatballs until browned and mostly cooked.
  3. In the same pan, prepare the marinara sauce by cooking onions and garlic, then adding the remaining sauce ingredients and simmering.
  4. Add the meatballs back to the sauce and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes before serving.
