Ingredients

The meat mixture

  • 1 cup French bread or other sturdy white bread, cut or torn into small pieces
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 pound ground beef 80% lean
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • teaspoons kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 large eggs
  • cup grated parmesan cheese
  • cooking spray

The sauce

  • 28 ounce jar marinara sauce
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Soak the bread in milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine the soaked bread with beef, pork, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, eggs, and parmesan cheese in a bowl.
  3. Gently mix until just combined, adding more milk if necessary.
  4. Form the mixture into 1-inch balls without rolling them too tightly.
  5. Preheat the broiler and coat a sheet pan with cooking spray.
  6. Arrange the meatballs on the sheet pan and broil for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  7. In a pot, combine the meatballs with marinara sauce and tomato sauce over medium heat.
  8. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, then sprinkle with parsley and serve.
