Ingredients

The base

  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats

The fudge layer

  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 12-ounce package semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

The toppings

  • 1 package M&M’s
  • 1 package Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Instructions

  1. Set aside 2 tablespoons of the butter.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the remaining butter with brown sugar until well mixed.
  3. Add the egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla, then mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the reserved butter, sweetened condensed milk, and chocolate pieces, cooking over low heat until melted.
  5. Stir in the remaining vanilla and mix well.
  6. Press two-thirds of the oat mixture into the bottom of a 9x9 baking pan.
  7. Spread most of the chocolate mixture over the oat layer, reserving some for later if desired.
  8. Dot the remaining oat mixture over the chocolate and add the candy pieces on top.
  9. Bake at 350°F for about 15 minutes until lightly browned.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 12 hours before cutting.
