Ingredients

The custard

  • 4 large eggs

The bread and toppings

  • 8 slices thick bread (brioche recommended)
  • butter or oil (for the pan)
  • maple syrup and/or powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a shallow dish.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and brush with butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
  4. Place the coated slices in the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  5. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning and work in batches if necessary.
  6. Serve with maple syrup and/or powdered sugar.
