Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and optionally line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 3. In a mixer, beat the shortening and sugar until smooth.
- 4. Add the egg and almond extract, and mix well.
- 5. Gradually add the flour mixture until just combined.
- 6. Fill the cookie press with dough and press cookies onto baking sheets.
- 7. Decorate with colored sugar or candies as desired.
- 8. Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- 9. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
