Easy Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes

ground nutmeg

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds about ½ to 1 inch thick.
- Add the sweet potatoes to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Heat a saucepan on medium-high heat and melt the butter.
- Add cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, white sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla to the melted butter and stir.
- Pour the candied glaze mixture over the sweet potatoes.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, stir, and baste the sweet potatoes.
- Cover again and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until soft.
- Let sit for 15 minutes before serving to thicken the glaze.
