Ingredients

The apples

  • 12 units average-sized Granny Smith apples

The caramel

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by washing and drying them thoroughly.
  2. Insert a stick into the top of each apple.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and cream, and cook over medium heat.
  4. Stir until the mixture reaches 236°F (soft ball stage).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  6. Dip each apple into the caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  7. Place dipped apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.
