Pineapple Pork Hawaiian Burgers

Ingredients

The burgers

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 20 oz can pineapple slices in juice
  • 2 oz Monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 2 Tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • ½ red onion sliced
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil

The buns and sauce

  • 4 Onion Rolls buns
  • 4 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha
  • 4 Tbsp teriyaki sauce

Instructions

  1. Chop one pineapple slice into small pieces and slice the green onions and Monterey Jack cheese.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground pork, chopped pineapple, green onions, shredded cheese, and 2 Tbsp teriyaki sauce, then mix well.
  3. Shape the mixture into four burger patties, making them flatter than desired as they will shrink while cooking.
  4. Slice the red onion and heat ½ Tbsp cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, adding the onions to caramelize them.
  5. Once browned, transfer the onions to a bowl and reduce heat to medium, adding another ½ Tbsp oil to the skillet.
  6. Cook the burger patties in the skillet for about 5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  7. Pat dry four pineapple slices and add them to the skillet, cooking until heated through and browned.
  8. Mix mayonnaise and sriracha in a small bowl.
  9. Assemble the burgers with sriracha mayo on the bun, a burger patty, teriyaki sauce, a pineapple slice, and caramelized onions.
