Easy Carne Asada

Ingredients

Marinade

  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground chipotle chili pepper
  • ½ bunch fresh cilantro

Meat

  • 1½ to 2 pounds skirt, flank, or flap steak

Instructions

  1. Combine all marinade ingredients and stir well.
  2. Transfer the meat to a plastic bag or container and pour the marinade over it, marinating for at least 4 hours, preferably up to 24 hours.
  3. For oven cooking, adjust the top rack to 4 inches below the broiler, heat the broiler on high, and broil the meat for 4 to 6 minutes per side.
  4. For stovetop cooking, heat a skillet over medium-high heat, grease with oil, cut the meat into pieces, and cook in batches for 4 to 8 minutes per side.
  5. For grilling, heat the grill to medium-high and cook the meat for 4 to 8 minutes per side.
  6. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 135°F for medium-rare or 145°F for medium before serving.
