Carne Asada

Ingredients

The marinade

  • 6 tbsp Olive oil
  • 6 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 medium Jalapeno (minced)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup Fresh cilantro (chopped finely)
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 ½ tsp Sea salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper

The meat

  • 2 lb Flank steak (or skirt steak)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together all marinade ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Place the steaks in a glass baking dish and pour the marinade over them, turning to coat.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 12 hours.
  4. Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking if possible.
  5. Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  6. Cook the steak on the grill or grill pan, flipping according to desired doneness.
  7. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice the carne asada thinly against the grain.
