Ingredients

The carne asada marinade

  • 1 cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • ½ cup chopped red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 whole jalapeño
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

For serving

  • lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 10 pieces corn tortillas
  • to taste shredded Monterey Jack or crumbled Queso Fresco
  • to taste pico de gallo
  • to taste sliced avocados
  • to taste chopped lettuce
  • to taste lime wedges
  • to taste hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Place the steak in a baking dish and cover it with the marinade.
  3. Marinate the steak in the refrigerator for 2 to 5 hours.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the steak from the marinade and season it with salt and pepper.
  6. Grill the steak for about 5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.
  7. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing it into thin strips.
  8. Warm the tortillas on a dry skillet.
  9. Assemble the tacos with the steak and your desired toppings.
