Sweet & Spicy Asian-Inspired Pork Meatballs

Ingredients

The meatballs

  • 2 lbs ground pork
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 3 green onions, finely diced

The sauce

  • ½ cup coconut aminos
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp garlic, finely diced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ½ tsp tapioca starch

For topping

  • sesame seeds
  • diced green onion

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, sesame oil, coconut aminos, and green onions, mixing well with your hands.
  3. Shape the mixture into golfball-sized meatballs, making about 18-20 balls.
  4. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan and whisk together.
  6. When the meatballs have about 7 minutes left, heat the sauce until it reaches a low boil, then reduce to a simmer for 4-5 minutes until thickened.
  7. Remove the meatballs from the oven and spoon the sauce over them before serving, adding toppings as desired.
