Instructions
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- In a mixer, beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy, then add egg yolks and vanilla.
- Reduce speed and gradually add flour mixture and milk until just incorporated.
- Shape dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll chilled dough to 1/8-inch thickness and cut with cookie cutters.
- Transfer cookies to baking sheets and bake until edges are lightly browned, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Cool cookies completely on wire racks before frosting.
- Beat butter and powdered sugar for frosting, then add vanilla and milk to desired consistency.
- Color frosting with food coloring and decorate cooled cookies.
