Margherita Pizza
Ingredients
The dough

easy whole wheat pizza dough or store-bought pizza dough
The sauce

large can
whole San Marzano tomatoes (28 ounces)
The toppings

ovoline-type mozzarella or other fresh mozzarella balls

fresh basil, thinly sliced plus small leaves

extra-virgin olive oil

flaky sea salt or kosher salt

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 500°F with a rack in the upper third.
- Crush the canned tomatoes in a bowl and spread about ¾ cup of the sauce on each pizza dough, leaving an inch around the edges.
- Drain and pat dry the mozzarella, then tear it into smaller pieces and distribute it over the pizza.
- Bake each pizza on the top rack for about 10 to 12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Top with fresh basil, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and add red pepper flakes if desired. Slice and serve.
