Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Heat olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat and add minced garlic, cooking until golden.
- Blend canned tomatoes and tomato paste in a blender until smooth.
- Combine the blended tomato sauce with sliced basil, oregano, sugar, bay leaf, salt, and pepper in the saucepan.
- Simmer the sauce uncovered for about 15 minutes until thickened, then remove the bay leaf.
- Spread the sauce evenly over the pizza crust, leaving a ½ inch edge.
- Lay mozzarella slices on top of the sauce and add whole basil leaves.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the pizza.
- Bake the pizza on a foil-covered baking sheet, pizza stone, or directly on the oven rack for 8-10 minutes.
