Ingredients

  • 1 cup banana, mashed (about 2 big bananas)
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½-1 cup pecans, walnuts, or pumpkin seeds, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉ (177℃).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the mashed bananas, pumpkin puree, sour cream, and eggs.
  3. Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla to the wet mixture and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, orange zest, and salt) to the wet mixture and mix until fully combined.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and stir until fully incorporated.
  6. Grease an 8x4 or 9x5 loaf pan.
  7. Pour the batter into the greased pan and spread evenly. Optionally, mix in chocolate chips or top with nuts.
  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes, checking at 30 minutes if using two pans, until a cake tester comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
