Ingredients

French Toast

  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 bananas sliced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 banana mashed to puree
  • teaspoon sea salt

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 1 cup strawberries sliced
  • ½ cup pecans toasted

Instructions

  1. Mash one banana into a puree and whisk it together with milk, eggs, vanilla, and salt until blended.
  2. Place 4 slices of bread on a cookie sheet and add banana slices to each, keeping them about ½ inch from the crust.
  3. Top each with another slice of bread to form sandwiches.
  4. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture for 3-4 seconds until fully immersed.
  5. Place the sandwiches on the waffle iron and cook for 4-6 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Remove the sandwiches from the waffle iron and place on a serving dish.
  7. Spread Nutella on top of each French toast and top with pecans and sliced strawberries.
  8. Serve immediately.
