Ingredients

The main mixture

  • 4 pcs eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbs maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbs butter

The bread and fruit

  • 8 slices whole grain bread
  • 2 pcs ripe bananas

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, then reduce to medium-low.
  4. Dip two pieces of bread into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak briefly.
  5. Transfer the soaked bread to the skillet and cook for about two minutes on one side, then flip.
  6. Place half a sliced banana on top of one piece of bread and cover with the other slice, cooked side down.
  7. Cook the sandwich for about two minutes until browned, then flip and cook the other side for another two minutes.
  8. Remove the French toast and keep warm in the oven while repeating with remaining bread.
  9. Serve warm with maple syrup or berry sauce.
