Apple Crumble Squares

Instructions
- 1. In a skillet, combine ghee and maple syrup over high heat, boiling for one minute.
- 2. Add apples, cinnamon, salt, vanilla bean, and lime juice; reduce heat and cook until apples are softened and syrup evaporates, about 5 minutes.
- 3. Set apple mixture aside to cool.
- 4. In a food processor, combine crumble ingredients and pulse until just combined; refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.
- 5. Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare a 9-inch square baking pan with ghee and parchment paper.
- 6. Press slightly more than half of the crumble mixture into the bottom of the pan.
- 7. Spread the apple mixture over the crumble base, removing the vanilla pod.
- 8. Scatter the remaining crumble mixture on top and add maple sugar flakes if desired.
- 9. Bake for 28 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
- 10. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate to chill completely.
- 11. Cut into 12 squares and serve.
