Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp salted butter
  • cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1⅓ cup white whole wheat flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½-⅔ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream the softened butter and brown sugar together in a large bowl.
  3. Add the vanilla and egg to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the white whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop 12 equal portions of dough onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-9 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the tops are still soft.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool before serving.
