Ingredients

  • cup whole-wheat pastry flour
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt) in a small bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter using an electric mixer until slightly cold.
  4. Add the egg, both sugars, and vanilla to the butter and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture while mixing on low speed.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips with a spatula.
  7. Chill the batter for 10-15 minutes if possible.
  8. Spoon batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 7-9 minutes.
  9. Transfer cookies to a cooling rack and enjoy.
