Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup salted grass-fed butter, softened
  • 2 units eggs
  • ¾ cup real maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups white whole wheat flour or whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10-12 inch oven safe skillet with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter until light and fluffy, then add the eggs one at a time until combined.
  3. Slowly mix in the maple syrup and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Add the flour and baking soda, then beat until fully incorporated before stirring in the chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the dough in the prepared skillet and bake for 18-20 minutes, until the center is slightly gooey.
  6. Let cool for 3-5 minutes before serving, ideally with a scoop of ice cream.
