Instructions
- Thaw pie crust for about 45 minutes before using.
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into desired shapes.
- In a saucepan, combine apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, salt, cornstarch, and lemon juice, and simmer until thickened.
- Let the filling cool.
- Mix egg with milk or water for the egg wash.
- Scoop filling onto pastry squares, brush edges with egg wash, fold, and seal.
- Place turnovers on the baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
