Simple Sesame Rice

Ingredients

The rice

  • 1 cup long grain jasmine rice
  • 1.75 cups water

The flavorings

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ Tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Mince the garlic and sauté it in butter over medium heat until fragrant.
  2. Add the rice and toast it for 2-3 minutes while stirring.
  3. Carefully add water and soy sauce, stir briefly, then bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and let the rice rest for 5 minutes with the lid on.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork, then drizzle with toasted sesame oil and add sesame seeds, folding gently to combine.
  7. Serve warm.
