Yellow Jasmine Rice

Ingredients

The rice

  • 2 cups uncooked long grain jasmine rice
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 bay leaf optional

The spices

  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Sauté butter, garlic, turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon in a medium sauce pot over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until garlic softens.
  2. Add uncooked rice to the pot and stir, cooking for about 2 minutes to slightly toast the rice.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and add the bay leaf. Cover and bring to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes with the lid on.
  5. After 20 minutes, turn off the heat and let it rest for an additional 10 minutes without removing the lid.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
