Ingredients

The Meatballs

  • 2 slices bread
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup fresh grated parmesan
  • ½ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

The Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta
  • ¼ teaspoon oregano
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 420 degrees.
  2. 2. Soak the bread in milk in a bowl.
  3. 3. Prepare a baking sheet with a rack on top.
  4. 4. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, lamb, and beef, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. 5. Squeeze excess moisture from the soaked bread and crumble it into the meat mixture.
  6. 6. Mix in onion, parmesan, parsley, cayenne, garlic, and egg.
  7. 7. Shape the mixture into 1 ½ - 2 inch balls and arrange them on the rack.
  8. 8. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes, then sprinkle with lemon juice.
  9. 9. For the dipping sauce, mix yogurt, milk, feta, oregano, and garlic in a small bowl.
  10. 10. Serve the meatballs with the dipping sauce.
