Ingredients

  • ½ tsp dried chili flakes (optional)

The main ingredient

  • 1 large red onion (thinly sliced)

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced red onions in a clean jar or airtight container.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, honey, salt, and any optional spices. Stir well.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it simmers, cooking for 1 to 2 minutes until dissolved.
  4. Pour the hot mixture over the onions in the jar, ensuring they are fully covered.
  5. Press down on the onions to submerge them and remove air bubbles.
  6. Allow the pickled onions to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  7. Cover the jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using.
