Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8x8 or 9x9-inch baking pan.
- 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda.
- 3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 4. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- 5. Gradually add the flour mixture in thirds, alternating with the buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- 6. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
- 7. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 45-55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- 8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan or serve warm.
